Every action has a reaction. We all learned this in grade school. Cause and effect. This is a universal law the universe itself has.
Why Do People Still Make the Wrong Decisions?
Think about it. If we all learned this in grade school and are aware of this concept, why do people still struggle to make the appropriate decisions that will get them closer to their goal? Most people can't even do that and it shows because 99.9% of people are not where they want to be in life, fitness, mentally, financially, etc.
So if we know that every cause has an effect and most people struggle to accomplish goals in all aspects of life when they should because things should be straightforward, right?
Work out → Better health
Meditate → Better mindset
Smart thinking / hard work → Financial freedom
Good decisions → Good outcomes
Bad decisions → Bad outcomes.
Why do most people still struggle if it's this straightforward?
For the most part we as humans try to make the best decision possible, but there are times when we make mistakes. Some are big, some are small.
It comes down to being unconscious and conscious.
The reason most people are not able to make rational decisions is because most people's minds are cemented, which makes them unconscious. By unconscious I mean they are living in the subconscious.
People who are able to make rational decisions most of the time are in the conscious state. Does that mean people who are in a conscious state are perfect? Absolutely not. It just means they are able to elevate in life more than most people.
The Split Second Moment
When most people are about to make a bad decision, small or big. Let's take big for example.
When someone is trying to do a big bad decision, I argue 99.9% of the time most people know when they are about to do something bad. There's that split-second thought that comes to your mind: "Maybe I shouldn't." "That's probably too harsh." But for some reason most people let the unconscious take over and proceed doing wrong.
Others, instead of following those steps and letting the subconscious take over, get that thought of "maybe I shouldn't do this" and take a step back and make the opposite decision.
It sounds so simple. But you'll be surprised how many people cannot do this and some actually die not mastering this skill. Because if everyone did this, people would be where they want to be in life.
If you're "cemented" in bad patterns (like scrolling instead of meditating), you stay stuck. Conscious people win because they pause, override the autopilot, and choose better. It's not perfection it's just stacking more wins. 99.9% of people aren't where they want to be (life, fitness, money, etc.) because they stack bad decisions. It's not ignorance most know "workout = better health" or "hard work = more money." The problem is that split second moment i mentioned: the "maybe I shouldn't" whisper that gets ignored.
The Spiritual Side of It
Aside from this being unconscious vs. conscious, there's a deep spiritual meaning behind this.
Remember back then cartoons had a person in trouble trying to make a split decision on something. Then on the right shoulder we have a little angel whispering in your ear, telling you "do the right thing." On the left shoulder there's a little devil telling you "no, make the bad decision." Yeah… That's exactly what goes on every time you make a decision.
Does that mean people who make bad decisions are bad people? Some maybe. But for the most part I think most people are simply unconscious to all of this and align with bad without really intending to.
Does that mean conscious people are the best and most moral people ever? Most of them yes. But are they perfect? No. In this game in life all you can do is stack up as many "good / conscious" decisions as possible for the best outcome.
Most people stack the opposite
